With less than 24 hours till the start of the race, the full course has been revealed at a length of 733km of some of the most difficult and beautiful terrain that this region has to offer. Take a look at this fly over video to see how many epic sections have been put in place.
Heading East from Burnie along the coast and then inland through to Strahan, the course then turns North and follows the coastline through the Tarkine and back along the coast to the Burnie finish. With highland snow expected on Wednesday in the Cradle region, and overnight temperatures around 2 degree’s for the rest of the week, having enough equipment will be important. Also included is a rifle range challenge with time penalties for missed targets!
Apart from the course, there are other Tasmanian’s that the competitors were made aware of by race organisers. The dangers of hitting wildlife with your mountain bike, stepping over stubborn tiger snakes and staying off the road far enough, not to be taken out by fluoro vest wearing log truck drivers are amongst the truly dangers native to this state.
